7th Grade Volleyball Gold:  Whitney Thyes

Whitney Thyes has been selected as the 7th Grade Gold Volleyball Player of the Year. From the very first week of practice, Whitney consistently demonstrated determination and dedication to improving her volleyball skills. She actively sought feedback from coaches and put in extra effort, often requesting additional drills to work on at home.

Throughout the season, Whitney not only developed as a player but also emerged as an outstanding leader, encouraging and supporting her teammates both on and off the court. Her commitment to excellence was evident as she improved in all areas of the game, particularly in setting, communication, and leadership.

Whitney’s exceptional work ethic and determination will contribute to her continued success in any activity she chooses to pursue. It has been a pleasure coaching Whitney this season, and her positive impact on the team is truly appreciated.

7th Grade Volleyball Purple:  Alex Kroll

My nomination goes to Alex Kroll.  Alex had such a positive attitude all year.  She worked so hard in every drill, practice, and match.  She always had a smile on her face and was pushing herself to be the best player she could be.  She loved to be challenged, and it showed in her overall volleyball skills.  Great job, Alex. It was an honor to coach you this past season.  Good luck in the upcoming volleyball years.

8th Grade Volleyball Gold: Lyric Sinkler & Sylvia Schwiesow

Lyric showed drive, effort, and dedication throughout the entire season. She was a standout player all season long. Not only was she a great athlete, but she was also a great teammate and leader. She was always willing to step in and help out her teammates and was willing to guide and take charge on the court when needed. It was a great experience being able to coach Lyric.

Throughout the season, Sylvia showed great improvement. She worked hard all season long. Not only did she grow her volleyball skills in passing and serving, but I saw her personality grow as well. She was a pleasure to have on the team, and I am very fortunate to have been a part of her athletic career.

8th Grade Volleyball Purple:  Macy Young

Macy Young is the Player of the Year for the 8th Grade Purple team.  You can see that Macy has a love for the game, not only as a competitor but as a leader.  She strives to get better through practice and also through constructive criticism.  She is not afraid to take chances and make mistakes that will ultimately make her a better player.  Although quiet, Macy is a big presence on the court by making adjustments to not only her game, but of others to make them better players as well!  Great job, Macy!

Cross Country: Cambria Malcore and Adelia Noth

Cambria and Adelia — These two are deserving of the cross-country student athlete award for not only their continued improvement on the course, but also their leadership this season. Cambria and Adelia were steady leaders for our team this year, leading both by example and with their voice.

Both athletes are also models for what a well-rounded student-athlete should look like. They are involved in sports and other clubs, while also maintaining excellent grades and a commitment to character in the classroom.

These two will be tough for us to replace next year, but they offered our younger runners a good example of what team leaders should look like!

7th Grade Football: Levi Rabas and Carter Schneider

Offense - Levi Rabas: Levi was our workhorse this year on offense.  As the main ball carrier, he was a force to be reckoned with, and even when the box was stacked, teams still could not stop him.  He was a leader on and off the field as well and was picked by his teammates to be a Team Captain in our final game of the year.

Defense/all around - Carter Schneider:  Carter was a leader on our defense, and all around stud this year.  He hardly ever came out of the game and never complained once about it either.  Never told us he needed a break and gave his all on every play.  On offense, he was thrust into an unfamiliar position about a third of the way into the year, and took it in stride and performed extremely well.

8th Grade Football:  Wesley Demmin and RJ Kielpikoski

Defense - Wesley Demmin: Wesley bounced back after a season-ending injury last year at the beginning of the season and came back as an absolute force.  He was the heart and soul of our defense with a quiet yet fearless demeanor.  He helped us out in all aspects of the game, including special teams, and getting us the tough yards as our fullback as well.  Always ready to listen and perform, Wesley is a player that any coach would be lucky to have.

All Around - RJ Kielpikowski:  RJ is a special player.  He outperformed expectations this year as our Tight End and as outside Linebacker.  He was also our backup kicker and punter as well.  A well-rounded athlete, where RJ    really shines is off the field.  He was always the first one on the field and the last one off, always helping others finish their assigned duties even when his were already completed.  RJ's exemplary leadership and humble attitude perfectly accentuates what it means to be a Denmark Viking.

Wrestling

If you're afraid to fail, you'll never succeed. Our attitude is the primary force that will determine whether we succeed or fail. More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill - none have wrestled without pride.

Boys Basketball

Basketball has a lot in common with the dynamics of our daily life, there are ups and downs, infinite hurdles, and the perseverance required to succeed. A basketball team’s ability to operate together as a unit is critical. It isn’t easy to win unless everyone does their part and contributes to the good of the group.

Girls Basketball

Sometimes you lead, and sometimes you follow
Don't worry about what you don't know
Life's a dance you learn as you go”
